The main idea of Plasmon-Harvest is to enhance the solar energy harvesting of Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) devices using noble metals (Au & Ag) nanoparticles (NPs), which support localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR).
Objectives
- Development and optimization of NPs (plasmonic NPs) for solar energy applications
- Development of a universal methodology for plasmonic nanocomposite thin films and design architectures that will lead to novel OPV devices
- Fabrication of OPV devices with enhanced efficiency and performance, and
- Investigation of fundamental phenomena & mechanisms to tailor NPs, nanocomposite and device performance.
Benefits
- Expanded Scientific Horizons: a general approach and methodology for the development, function and coordination of the physical properties of plasmon OPVs.
- Academic Horizons: New knowledge to be gained within the Plasmon - Harvest will provide the training material for pre-and post-graduate courses.
